“You are the light of the world. A city set upon a hill cannot be hidden.” Matthew 5:14
The Church is the civilisation, the society, the city of God. Just as Adam and Eve were to fill the earth with human civilisation made in the image of God, so now the Last Adam and his Bride are re-filling the earth with those being re-made in God’s image. Christians are citizens of heaven, manifesting the principles, values, life and culture of the heavenly Jerusalem here on earth.
Because the Church is a civilisation, a society, a city, the concerns of discipleship are all-encompassing, holistic, embracing culture as well as cult, the public sphere as well as the private, the corporate alongside the personal and familial.
This blog is committed to the enchanting reality and challenging possibility of all that the Church is and can be as the civilisation of God. This blog is committed to aiding the colonisation of the city of man by the city of God.
Now to him, who is able to do far more abundantly than all we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever. Amen. Ephesians 3:20-21
